Impact Dance Company Policies

The studio is the classroom where all of a dancer's dreams are realized. There are many rules and responsibilities necessary to incorporate for a smoothly running dance studio. At our studio, we want every student to be the best they can possibly be! It has been our experience that the character of a dancer is built through consistency, commitment, dedication, awareness, and discipline to maximize the classroom teaching/learning experience. Our studio adheres to the following standards and failure to adhere to these requirements could result in the student being asked to withdraw from classes.

PROPER STUDIO ATTIRE & GROOMING

Proper attire and grooming are MANDATORY. A student not conforming to this dress standard will be asked to leave the class and will be welcomed back once proper attire has been attained.

CORRECT APPAREL/FOOTWEAR FOR EACH DISCIPLINE:

Ballet Footwear

(Girls) Pink ballet slippers with elastics or ribbons
(Boys) Black ballet slippers with elastics
(Major exams) Properly fitted pointe shoes

Ballet Attire

(Girls) Tights and bodysuit are required. Ballet skirts are optional
(Boys) Shorts and a t-shirt

Jazz Footwear

(Girls) Beige split sole jazz shoes
(Boys) Black split sole jazz shoes

Jazz Attire

Tightly fitted tops, bodysuits, leggings, dance shorts are all acceptable

Acrodance Attire

Bodysuit, dance shorts and/or leggings
Absolutely no tights or socks

Tap Footwear

(Girls) Age 5 - Age 9 (approximately) Patent black tap shoes
(Girls) Age 8 and up (approximately) Black leather tap shoes
Age 11 and up or CDTA Grade 3 - Black Oxford (lace-up) tap shoes
(Boys) Oxford (lace-up) black tap shoes

Tap Attire

Tightly fitted tops, bodysuits, leggings, dance shorts are all acceptable

Hip Hop Footwear

Clean, indoor running shoes (MUST NOT HAVE BEEN WORN OUTSIDE)

Hip Hop Attire

loose-fitting clothing (NO JEANS)

HAIR MUST BE SECURED UP IN A PONYTAIL OR BUN FOR ALL DISCIPLINES

PROPER CLASSROOM DISCIPLINE

A high standard of discipline will be maintained in the classroom. Class disruptions will result in the student being asked to leave the class, and as a parent, you will be duly notified. Subsequent disruptions will result in the student being withdrawn from class.

REGULAR AND PROMPT ATTENDANCE

Students are expected to be at the studio and prepared for their class approximately 5 minutes prior to class time. Regular attendance is essential, as all students are relied upon as members of a team effort. Non-attendance is unfair to both the group and the student involved. If for some reason the student is physically unable to participate in class, it is highly beneficial to have them observe the class rather than not attend.

PROPER RESPECT FOR STUDIO FACILITIES

Students are expected to:

Put garbage and recycling in proper bins.
Remove outdoor shoes when entering the studio
Have all apparel hung or placed in a dance bag
No food is allowed in the classrooms. Water is permitted.
